North Western Dermatology provides video consultations (telehealth) for the treatment of certain skin conditions
Telehealth is convenient and secure. It saves time and avoids the cost of travel. Using technology, it is now possible to have an online consultation with a Dermatologist from anywhere in Australia.
Most dermatological conditions can be managed through an online consultation, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, vitiligo and hair thinning.
Some conditions may require assessment through an in-person consultation at our clinic or with a local Dermatologist. If your condition is considered unsuitable for a telehealth consultation you will not be charged the full consultation fee.
Upload your GP referral, if you have one, and photographs of your rash.
Our staff will contact you to confirm the booking. Pre-payment is required at this time.
A link will be sent to you via email or text to set up the video consultation, which can be via a smartphone, tablet or computer.
Following the consultation you will be contacted to book the follow up appointment.

Although a GP referral is not required for a telehealth consultation with a Dermatologist, it is preferred. A valid referral will entitle you to a Medicare rebate and it will assist the Dermatologist with information about your past medical history. If you choose not to provide a referral, we ask for your GP’s details so the Dermatologist can inform your doctor about the care you will receive.
Yes, our medical practice software provides the convenience of e-scripts and e-pathology requests, which can be sent to your phone.
The Telehealth platform used by our clinic is Doxy.me.
This system uses end-to-end encryption and is HIPAA compliant.* It is a browser based platform (ie. no downloads or installation required) that works on all devices that have a camera, microphone and speaker. Doxy.me enables easy communication via video and text and includes a virtual Waiting Room.
* The Health Insrance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is an American standard. In Australia, practitioners are bound by the professional standards and codes of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as well as The Privacy Act (1988). However in the absence of a formal technical standard, the HIPAA standard is recognised as the benchmark for security in Australia.
